When Carnivore wakes up after being knocked unconscious, the heroes convince him to join their expedition. In exchange for his help, he will get 5% of all loot found, except magic items, after the first week of travel.
The next morning the heroes, Carnivore and their guide, Salida, all go to Lord Outshine’s villa to follow Helethon’s expedition and recover Saefa’s ring. Sadly, Helethon left Port Nyanzaru earlier that morning.
The group then opts for their plan b: go to Fort Beluarian, a League of Fire military outpost that is about one week away. There, they expect to learn more about Omu, the Heart of Ubtao, and Fionghan.
The heroes enter the jungle and take a trail that later takes them to the coast. The first night a giant constrictor snake approaches the camp while Ellie is on watch. Despite the IQ difficulties and conflicting interests, the heroes convince the snake to leave them alone. The negotiations involved magical gooseberries, dried meat, and a lot of verbal clarity.
That same night, Chos dreams that his curse has covered most of his arm and his mom has turned into a creepy skeleton. The nightmare ends with a sinister laugh coming out of two sinister eyes surrounded by darkness.
The next day, the party continues their travel along the coast and meets a group of aarakocras, half-eagle half-humanoids, led by Riss. They’re from Kir Sabal, a monastery nestled atop the Na Pali mountains and close to the Heart of Ubtao and Omu.
Later that day, Chos prepares a delicious crab dish for lunch for everybody.
The following day, heavy rain pours over the coast. At one point, the group encounters a grung, a frog-like small humanoid, cornered by three hungry giant lizards. After thunderwaves, a “toll for the dead”, many arrows, and dramatic cliff jumps, the heroes kill the lizards and save the grung.
