Oct 18, 2010 – travel, irelandThe Grand Canal of Dublin traverses the South of Dublin and ends in the Liffey river before it meets the Atlantic Ocean.According to a tour guide it was built after Dubliners heard of the Grand Canal from Venice. They imagined how the Italian canal looked like and they built their own. At those times international communications weren’t that precise. As with other Irish cities with canals or rivers ducks and seagulls are everywhere.I frequently walk across the canal and when it’s sunny it still strikes me as a beautiful place. Dublin is a small city but it has this and other exquisite details that give the city its own aura. The boat anchored there sometimes moves and you can have your party or romantic dinner inside too.And at night the canal has a different feeling which includes prostitutes and Moon reflections on the water. This entry is part of the series Ireland (2010 - 2012):Rumbo Al Norte, Rumbo A GooglePrimeros Días En DublínGrand Canal DockCliffs Of MoherRing Of KerryDingleGrand Canal (This entry)St Stephen’s Green PhotowalkDublinPainKilmainham GaolWicklow And The Powerscourt GardensHiking From Bray To GreystonesHiking in GlendaloughBye Bye Ireland, Hello California
